The History of Esperon

Esperon enjoys unrivalled panoramic views of the Drakenstein and Simonsberg mountain ranges lying within the Banhoek Conservancy and is only 10 minutes from the heart of Stellenbosch and 30 minutes from Franschhoek.

The two self-catering cottages are ideal for a restful Winelands getaway.

The farm was bought by the current owners on the eve of the first democratic election in South Africa.

Esperon originally was a small plum tree orchard with a simple cottage and has over the years been developed into a boutique vineyard.

The original name was Esperon de la Montagne which translated from French means “Mountain Hope” and has since been shortened to Esperon “Hope”.

“Hope” we believe is an apt name for Esperon as it encapsulates the motivation to keep moving forward and believing in a better future with a positive outlook on life.
